Valuables and personal articles

Some belongings need more than a basic limit.

Jewelry, tools, collections, instruments, cameras, and other higher-value items can need a separate review instead of being assumed under ordinary contents coverage.

Valuables coverage starts with what the item is and how it is used.

PureCover reviews whether valuable items fit inside the current policy, need a schedule or endorsement, or should be discussed as a personal articles or inland marine-style coverage question.

  • Review special limits, item values, documents, appraisals, and deductibles.
  • Check whether the item is personal, business, mobile, stored, or regularly used away from home.
  • Connect valuables with home, condo, renters, umbrella, and business coverage where appropriate.

Valuables coverage basics

Basic personal property coverage may not answer every valuable-item question.

A good review separates ordinary belongings from items that may have special limits, proof-of-value needs, or a better coverage path.

Special limits

A home, condo, or renters policy may include special limits for certain property categories, especially when theft or loss is involved.

  • Jewelry and watches.
  • Collectibles and art.
  • Tools, equipment, cameras, and instruments.

Scheduled property

Higher-value items may need to be scheduled, endorsed, or placed on a personal articles policy instead of assumed under basic contents coverage.

  • Appraisals or receipts.
  • Item descriptions and values.
  • Deductible and loss-settlement questions.

Inland marine-style coverage

Personal articles coverage is often part of the broader inland marine family because valuable property can move, travel, or sit outside an ordinary location-based policy.

What PureCover reviews

The useful question is not only value. It is fit.

PureCover looks at item type, use, documentation, policy limits, and what kind of loss you are trying to protect against.

What the item is

Jewelry, firearms, cameras, musical instruments, tools, sports equipment, collections, and business property may all follow different coverage paths.

Where it is used

Property used at home, in transit, at school, for business, in storage, or while traveling may need a different review than ordinary belongings.

How value is proven

Receipts, appraisals, photos, serial numbers, and schedules can matter when an item needs to be insured for a specific value.

What loss is actually covered

Breakage, theft, disappearance, flood, wear and tear, business use, and deductible treatment can vary. The policy wording controls.

Quote ready

What helps with a valuables review.

You do not need a perfect inventory to start, but these details make the review faster and more practical.

Item list

A simple list of items, estimated values, and where they are kept or used is enough to start the conversation.

Proof of value

Receipts, appraisals, photos, serial numbers, or prior schedules can help speed up a valuables review.

Current policy

A home, condo, renters, or scheduled property declarations page helps compare current limits and endorsements.

Have valuables that may need their own review?

Send a short item list, any appraisals or receipts you have, and the current home, condo, or renters policy if available.
